About the Role 

We have an exciting opportunity within the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work as the Lecturer in Environmental Impact and Wellbeing. As the successful candidate, you will produce quality research and deliver undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching predominantly in Social Work and be focused on bringing understandings of the reciprocal interaction of the natural environment and humans and the responses required for a sustainable future.

Some of the key responsibilities of the position are:

  • Planning and delivering ethical, high quality and innovative research through activities such as quality publication, external grant acquisition, scholarship and presentation that aligns with the College’s areas of research strength.
  • Contributing to the organisation, planning, delivery and evaluation of teaching primarily within the suite of undergraduate and/or postgraduate topics/courses in Social Work and across the College, through topic coordination, delivery of lectures, tutorials, laboratories, placements or other contemporary teaching strategies.
  • Delivering inspiring and innovative teaching informed by approaches that enhance the student experience and support students with academic and/or other challenges impeding their academic progress.
  • Actively participating in high performing multi-disciplinary teams with an education and research focus and contribute to the development of a respectful, trusting and collaborative working environment.
  • Developing and maintaining strategic relationships and networks with a range of stakeholders including industry and professional associations and organisations.

About You 

To be successful, you have completed a PhD or an equivalent qualification in a relevant field. You have demonstrated experience in undertaking high quality teaching in a tertiary environment, including involvement in topic coordination and curriculum design. You are passionate in fostering a positive environment for both colleagues and students and have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.

Some of the key position capabilities of the role include:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the reciprocal relationship between the natural environment and humans and the relevance of this to human service professions.
  • Demonstrated evidence of a strong research track record (for career stage) in an area aligned with research strengths in the interaction between humans and the natural environment, environmental impact and wellbeing including evidence of quality publications and attraction of external competitive grants.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work within a cross and/or transdisciplinary context to drive global sustainability goals.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the nexus between teaching and learning, research and scholarship.
