Ariel University’s origins can be traced back to 1982 when its predecessor college was established. The college was affiliated with Bar-Ilan University until 2004 when it became independent and in 2012 it was granted university status to became Ariel University.

The university is located in the Israeli settlement of Ariel in the West Bank.

There are three faculties at the university, namely the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Natural Sciences, and Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. The university also has four schools specialising in the fields of architecture, communication, health sciences, and medicine, as well as a School for Graduate Studies.

The university has over 20 research centres including The Schlesinger Family Center for Compact Accelerators, Radiation Sources & Applications (FEL), The Integrative Brain Science Center – Ariel IBSCA, Ariel Center for Applied Cancer Research (ACACR) and the Ariel Cyber Innovation Centre among others.
