About the Role

The Lecturer in Indigenous Knowledges and Culture will drive excellence in cultural education and training that meets the needs of the Katherine community. Contributing to initiatives like the Katherine Justice Reinvestment Project (KJRP) and the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) program, the role will focus on delivering high-quality, culturally responsive teaching through innovative practices and technologies.

With local cultural expertise, the Lecturer will provide education on Indigenous knowledges and cultural practices, while collaborating with local non-government organisations, Aboriginal community-controlled groups, and government agencies to promote understanding of local values and protocols. This position is key to building a culturally responsive workforce in health, education, justice, and social services across the Northern Territory and advancing Flinders University’s Reconciliation Action Plan.

About You

To be successful in this role you will exhibit:


	Completion of a PhD OR community cultural recognition plus completion or near completion of a postgraduate degree or substantive experience in some branch of Indigenous studies/education
	Significant teaching and learning experience and excellence at a VET or tertiary level in the areas of Indigenous health and social issues, cultural safety, primary health care, or justice reinvestment
	Contribution to academic quality assurance processes, such as topic or course reviews
	Experience in coordinating and/or leading culturally responsive education and training activities with diverse stakeholders
	Prior engagement within a relevant external professional domain and within a wider community context at local, national or international level which could include working parties, committees, professional associations and conferenced workshops
	Community recognition of Katherine Indigenous knowledges and practices.

About Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT

At Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT, our aim is to be a hub for innovative health research, education, and workforce development across the Northern Territory.? We engage with students, community, and stakeholders to provide critical programs, such as the Northern Territory Medical Program, Paramedicine, Rural Clinical School, and the University Department of Rural Health.

Our research encompasses three research areas by exploring: (A) New approaches in precision synthesis of PCL, (B) PCLs’ properties and functions, and (C) Experimental and theoretical tools for their description.
