Kwansei Gakuin is one of the most prestigious private schools in Japan which dates back to in 1889, when it was founded by the American missionary Reverend Walter Russell Lambuth, M.D. in Kobe.
Kwansei Gakuin is now a comprehensive and integrated educational institute with a university, college, junior college, senior high school, junior high school , elementary school and kindergarten. It has 6 campuses: Nishinomiya Uegahara, Nishinomiya Seiwa, Kobe Sanda, Osaka Umeda, Tokyo Marunouchi, and Takarazuka.
Kwansei Gakuin University(hereinafter referred to as ※KGU§) is an independent institution for higher education, offering Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees in over 35 different disciplines to a student body of about 24,500, including approximately 800 foreign students.﹛The University maintains academic standards that rank among the highest of all Japanese universities and colleges.
KGU is a comprehensive university comprising 11 undergraduate schools (Theology, Humanities, Sociology, Law and Politics, Economics, Business Administration, Welfare Studies, International Studies, Education, Policy Studies, and Science and Technology), as well as 13 graduate schools.
Features of Education
To nurture world citizens, KGU has concluded agreements with over 130 universities and institutions in 33 countries and regions around the world for student and academic exchange. Taking advantage of this global network, KGU offers a wide variety of international education programs. Annually, more than 800 KGU students study at overseas partner institutions, and in turn approximately 700 students from foreign countries study at KGU.
Double Degree Program
KGU has signed agreements on double degree programs with two﹛partner universities: Mount Allison University (MTA) in Canada﹛and the University of Queensland (UQ) in Australia. The﹛program allows students to obtain degrees from both KGU and﹛the partner university in 4-5 years. The program with MTA is﹛available to students in the School of Sociology, Business Administration,﹛International Studies, and with UQ it is available to﹛students in the School of International Studies.

KGU fosters global? leaders such as future staff of the UN and diplomats, other? international organizations, JICA and international NGOs.
- Planned to be established in April 2017 as a multidisciplinary studies program at Master*s level.
- Experienced lecturers will be intensively employed for the practical courses.
- All classes will be taught in English.
- A two/three-month internship in an international organization or another appropriate organization will be compulsory for completing the program.
