Charles Sturt University is currently seeking an engaging and passionate professional to drive sustainability partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders. You will coordinate initiatives and develop communication strategies, including website and social media content to increase awareness and contributions from both students and staff.

The Role

Research Assistant (grade 6) on research project 'Neuroinclusive Research For All'

We are looking for a research assistant to join us on a participatory research project working with a neurodiverse group of people to explore 1) where we can make adaptations to ensure community partners have equitable access in the research process, and 2) co-develop guidance for researchers and community members working in neurodiverse partnerships to create sustainable practices for future research.

Responsibilities:


	To understand and convey information which needs careful explanation to the team or group of people through presentations, discussions and meetings which contribute to the production of research reports and publications.
	To write up results of research work, present information on research progress and outcomes to bodies supervising research in a clear and accurate manner.
	To analyse or undertake basic research by deciding how best to apply existing methodology according to overall context and objectives.
	To deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines by discussing with the Principal Investigator or Grant-holder and offering creative or innovative solutions.
	To liaise with research colleagues and make internal and external contacts to develop knowledge and understanding to form relationships for future research collaboration.
	To contribute to the planning of research projects.
	To assist in contributing to support student projects on the use of research methods and equipment.
	To contribute to fostering a collegial and respectful working environment which is inclusive and welcoming and where everyone is treated fairly with dignity and respect.
	To engage in wider citizenship to support the department and wider discipline.
	To engage in continuing professional development by attending relevant training and development courses.
	Any other specific responsibilities.


This post is fixed term for 3 months, the funding is available from early 2025 for this fixed period only; the project is time limited and will end on 30th June 2025.

The post-holder is employed to work on research/a research project which will be led by another colleague. Whilst this means that the post-holder will not be carrying out independent research in his/her own right, the expectation is that they will contribute to the advancement of the project, through the development of their own research ideas/adaptation and development of research protocols.

Successful applicants will, ideally, be in post by 24th March 2025.


Durham University

The Role

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Computational and Theoretical Chemistry with a particular emphasis on the statistical mechanics of liquid-solid interfaces. The successful candidate will work in the group of Dr Stephen Cox and the broad aims of the project are to elucidate the structure and dynamics of complex liquid-solid interfaces at a theoretical level. The main criteria for the role are a strong track record in world-leading research commensurate with applicant's experience, along with a PhD in computational chemistry or related subject. Experience in molecular simulations (i.e., molecular dynamics and/or Monte Carlo methods) or liquid state theory (e.g., classical density functional theory) is highly desirable. The primary topic of research will be:


	Understanding how the solution environment impacts crystal morphology, with an emphasis of polar crystal surfaces [see, e.g., Sayer & Cox, JCP 153, 164709 (2020)].


The expected candidate will also be expected to engage other research topics in the group:


	Understanding the dynamics of charge/discharge processes in electrolyte and ionic liquid systems [see, e.g., Pireddu et al., PNAS 121, e2318157121 (2024)].
	Developing new theoretical approaches to efficiently describe solvation forces [see, e.g., Bui & Cox, J. Chem. Phys. 161, 104103 (2024); Bui and Cox, arXiv:2410.02556]


The successful applicant will be expected to work both independently and part of a team, and have excellent communication organisational and problem-solving skills.

This post is fixed term, with an end date of 30 September 2026.

The post-holder is employed to work on research/a research project which will be led by another colleague. Whilst this means that the post-holder will not be carrying out independent research in his/her own right, the expectation is that they will contribute to the advancement of the project, through the development of their own research ideas/adaptation and development of research protocols.

We are excited to invite applications for a Research Fellow (Veterinary Vaccine development) position funded by industry. The position will be based in the School of Biosciences at the University of Surrey, but it will involve working closely with colleagues in the School of Veterinary Medicine. You will be part of a team in a vibrant, interdisciplinary research environment with a strong international reputation.

The main focus of the project will be to develop novel bacterial vaccines for livestock pathogens in collaboration with colleagues in academia and industry. Therefore, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in microbiology, molecular biology and phenotypic assays. You will be an important member of a research team focused on understanding the pathogenesis and control of endemic bacterial diseases of livestock and poultry. You will be a member of the La Ragione Research group, and the project will run in parallel with BBSRC, EPSRC, MRC, AHRC, EU, charity and commercially funded projects in the areas of bacterial host-microbe interactions, novel interventions and AMR.

You will be based in the School of Biosciences (Stag Hill campus), but will also work in the School of Veterinary Medicine (Manor Park campus). You will be part of a rapidly growing and dynamic discipline and wider Faculty network of scientists. The post holder will work closely with colleagues in industry and some national/EU travel may be required.
