The University of St Andrews Business School invites applications for the position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Strategy. The successful candidate will join the Business School at an exciting time. The newly launched School is the largest in the University, building on the University's rich heritage and the legacy of the leading Schools of Economics and Finance and Management, whose merger created it. The successful candidate will be a Strategy scholar with an international research reputation who can contribute to the School's world-leading and interdisciplinary research agenda, addressing themes such as sustainability, innovation and leadership in a complex geopolitical landscape. They will be successful in publishing research, attracting research funding or other financial support and promoting knowledge exchange to strengthen the School's reputation for academic excellence. They must also be an excellent teacher, capable of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students from diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate will also actively engage in purposeful partnerships with academic, public, private and third-sector organisations to drive impactful research and enhance the student experience. An understanding of scenario planning and futures thinking is desirable but not essential.

Candidates will hold a PhD in a cognate discipline. The School will consider applications from candidates who have submitted their PhD thesis at the time of application and have the viva scheduled to take place before the role start date. You will engage with students and staff across the University of Waikato to enhance the quality of teaching and learning through innovation and change. This is a unique opportunity working within a multi-disciplinary centre that encompasses a large and varied scope across our multifaceted organisation.

You will be comfortable managing complex portfolios, high-performing teams, and time-constrained priorities, as this role has it all. From professional development design, implementation, and delivery to programme expansion, you will explore new ideas to combat the current challenges of the tertiary education landscape.

As a strategic leader, you will be passionate about developing and designing the curriculum for domestic and international partnerships and research opportunities aligned with the University's strategy. Using your experience in tertiary education, you will lead curriculum design, pedagogy, and assessment design, including learning and teaching technologies (artificial intelligence), which encompasses research projects in the scholarship of learning and teaching.

Drawing on your previous experience in an educational management role, you will have an understanding of Kaupapa Māori and Pacific pedagogies, recognize the varied needs of students (learner styles and analytics), and ensure that students and staff develop their professional and academic English language skills.

We are looking for someone who holds a PhD in a relevant field, with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

About School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment

Our school offers a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Industrial Design, Architecture, Construction Management, and Engineering, integrating advanced academic knowledge with practical training. We conduct world-leading research in Sustainability and Resilience, Design & Digitalisation, and Industrialisation & Materials, supported by seven research groups and three research centres. About the role

We are seeking a forward-thinking, dynamic, and innovative scholar to join our team as a Associate Professor in Industrial Design. This pivotal role involves leading all Industrial Design programs, fostering research and teaching connections with Architecture, and promoting multi-disciplinary collaboration across the school, including Construction Management, Engineering, and Urban Transformation. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chair of Architecture and Design and the DAP of Architecture and Industrial Design to enhance the program’s positioning, attract key staff and students, and drive the growth of Industrial Design research. Additionally, this role will play a crucial part in establishing an interdisciplinary Design research program that leverages the strategic potential of Western Sydney and aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The ideal candidate will make distinguished contributions to scholarship, research, and teaching, providing significant leadership within the School.

About You

The successful candidate will possess a PhD in Design or a related field, coupled with outstanding professional experience and highly regarded research in industrial and/or multi-disciplinary design fields. They will be an accomplished Industrial Designer with significant global achievements and a proven track record of providing professional leadership and advice. Experience in leading curriculum accreditation with relevant professional bodies is essential. The candidate will demonstrate leadership and innovation in contemporary curriculum design, development, delivery, and assessment, with evidence of teaching quality and successful supervision of Masters and PhD candidates. An internationally competitive research profile, evidenced by substantial research funding, high-quality scholarly publications, and impactful research outcomes, is required.
