Both sides now

一月 26, 2017

You report on the AllSides Dictionary, an online effort to provide a balanced definition of 400 controversial terms, revealing how they are perceived differently by people with different political perspectives (“Academics use new dictionary to aid students in era of fake news”, News, 19 January).

This seems like a sensible idea, although it’s a shame that it took the rise of Donald Trump for left-leaning college professors to realise that there are valid arguments on the other side. Three cheers for the reopening of the marketplace of ideas.

After spending 30 minutes browsing the definitions, some of them seem a little idiosyncratic and skewed in favour of leftist ethics, but it’s definitely a start.
