A marking mockery 2

Bournemouth treads a slippery slope with its rhetoric when it undermines the marking authority of a professor such as Paul Buckland. Its dangerous message is that it is willing to rob its faculty of the authority and freedom to manage courses. It raises questions such as: Are all fails to be so scrutinised? If not, why not?

Sadly, in this case Buckland is assumed to have made serious mistakes in marking. Those who overruled him are not doubted. And the university sacrifices its integrity for a dozen more fund-allocating bodies, growing more akin to a modern business than a place of learning.
