The concerns of your anonymous "senior manager at a research-intensive university" are complete baloney ("Loss of ally adds to Welsh unrest", 5 August).
There is no dearth of higher education expertise available to the Welsh government. The Higher Education Funding Council for Wales is made up of highly experienced university figures, as is our HE Governance Review Group. Merfyn Jones, former vice-chancellor of Bangor University, has been appointed specialist adviser on the academy.
My announcements on the sector deliver on our strategy For our Future, published by my predecessor. The reconfiguration agenda itself has been in place for a decade.
Life in Wales' academy will be tough for university administrators, as it will be for the UK as a whole. Your anonymous senior manager should get used to the idea.
