Darwin dilemma

I empathise with Satoshi Kanazawa's position on academic freedom (Opinion, December 15). I am in a similar predicament.

For some time, I have been pointing out that Charles Darwin did not originate the theory of natural selection. Both Darwin and Alfred Wallace freely admitted this fact, but it is generally ignored.

Some of my colleagues suggest that it is best to keep quiet because creationists will use this to attack science. I point out that silence on this issue allows creationists to claim that evolutionists do not tell the truth.

The question is, do we admit the truth or continue teaching our students a falsehood for another 150 years?
