Mary Evans argues that despite the feminine attributes demanded by the Quality Assurance Agency (Soapbox, July 22) women are undervalued in universities, but also says that "the worst excesses of cultivated eccentricities" of 30 years ago have vanished from academia. Perhaps universities need more women professors - eccentric or not - and courses on women's studies for them to explore this idea?
