Michael Loughlin argues that "audit quality" in higher education is intellectually untenable (Features, THES , March 22). This has huge implications. Quality assurance is a sham. Thousands make a living peddling quality assurance. Only one replied. But he avoided the central point. Why aren't academics up in arms? Perhaps they fear unemployment.
