Reading your list of field-changing books ("The book everyone wishes they'd written", 23 April), I could not help noticing how many would surely have been denied funding in our climate of "economic impact", "networks", pre-determined "initiatives" and "knowledge transfer".
Would the AHRC of today ever support a close analysis of logocentrism or a critique of pure reason? Of course, it has no interest in fostering the next Jacques Derrida or Immanuel Kant: it is committed only to cant.
