I was interested in Anthony Glees' revelation about the apparent "left-of-centre to Marxist consensus" in education ("Culture in the state-funded sector condones failure, claims professor", 4 September).
These comments are perplexing considering the little resistance from managers there is to the encroachment of the private sector in delivering new educational buildings through to designing the curriculum about how the occupation of Iraq should be taught.
Clearly, the "businessification" of education agenda has bypassed Glees. Karl or Maggie: one is no longer with us and the other suffers from dementia, but I know which one would be happiest in the current climate.
