One, possibly unintended, consequence of the Government's decision to stop providing funding for "repeat" qualifications is that it could prevent many education professionals who already have masters degrees in their subject specialisms subsequently taking professionally relevant masters.
Such a development would be short-sighted. A wealth of evidence demonstrates the positive impact that such programmes can have on teachers' performance and on their contribution to meeting government priorities.
If the Government is really serious about wanting a world-class education service, an exception to the new ruling must be allowed.
