Educating tomorrow's social workers is related not only to workforce planning but also to the Department of Health campaign to recruit higher student numbers. Since the payment of a bursary and tuition fees by the General Social Care Council, numbers have increased. But this trend may be affected by the introduction of variable fees if they are no longer paid in full by the professional body.
The GSCC and Department of Health must honour the recruitment campaign by paying the full fees of students.
