Frank Furedi makes for provocative reading, but what he interprets as a student looking for an "easy ride" may be a student with dyslexia exercising a "reasonable adjustment" in terms of the Disability Discrimination Act by requesting lecture notes.

The purpose of making notes available electronically is so that students with disabilities may access and output the notes in a suitable format (for example, large type, in alternative colours, via a speech reader, in Braille). It is done to break down barriers for those previously excluded from the culture of studying.
