A LIBERAL FUTURE?
The University of Brighton and J.E. Purkyne University (Czech Republic) are hosting an international conference to consider the political and ideological role of higher education in an age of 'the free market'; the conception of individual and society underpinning a liberal society and its requirements of the university; and both practical and theoretical questions of the development of the autonomous 'critically educated' citizen which a liberal education has traditionally seen as its central concern.
