US for-profit provider Apollo Education Group has bought a German college for $105 million (?71 million).
Apollo, which owns America’s biggest for-profit provider The University of Phoenix, acquired Career Partner as it seeks to increase its international presence, reported.
The German for-profit education provider offers 24 undergraduate courses, as well as master's programmes, including an MBA, to around 5,000 students. It also provides professional development courses to around 27,000 people a year.
Apollo Global, which bought UK-based BPP University in 2009, now has colleges in nine countries, including India, Australia and South Africa.
Career Partner is Apollo’s first venture in Germany, its chief executive officer Greg Cappelli explained.
"This was always a highly ranked country for us," he said. "Also, having BPP, which is our premier university, right down the road in Great Britain, it's a perfect fit."
