Having long argued a lucidly compelling case that the underlying problems of the British economy are structural, this week it looked as though The Guardian's economics pages had a real restructuring achievement on its hands when an article on welfare policy by Tony Atkinson billed him as warden of Nuffield College, Cambridge. But what looks, on first sight, like the most spectacular transfer-market transaction yet, turns out to be our old friend cock-up. Professor Atkinson and associates remain firmly established in their 1930s mock-Cotswold pile at Nuffield College, Oxford.
