The deadline for entries to the second annual Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards (Thelmas) is approaching, with submissions due in by the end of next week.
Last year the awards, held in association with the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education, attracted over 250 entries from more than 100 institutions in 18 categories.
Among the winners was Loughborough University, which was awarded prizes for the outstanding leadership and management team and the outstanding student accommodation team.
Shirley Pearce, Loughborough's vice-chancellor, said that winning the awards had a tangible effect on the mood on campus. "We were very excited and delighted. It meant a lot to people right across the university because it was a team effort - everybody got a morale boost."
This year's ceremony will see fresh additions to the 18 categories.
New awards will celebrate successful initiatives in knowledge transfer, and achievements in institutions' international strategies. In addition, outstanding teams working in procurement, departmental administration and student services or registry will be recognised.
The winners will be announced at a gala dinner at Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Thursday 17 June.
Ann Mroz, THE editor, said: "We launched the Thelmas last year in the midst of a recession and we were heartened that it confirmed that during tough times higher education institutions still have some of the most innovative staff in the country.
"I know the judges are looking forward to seeing the continued drive for excellence in the sector being reflected in the entries this year.
"We hope that these awards will give those in higher education administration a much-needed morale boost and remind everyone just what a fantastic sector we work in."
Entries are being accepted until Friday 29 January.
