Those Marriott Hotel advertisements that have succeeded, by excluding Wales, Ireland and Scotland from their map of the British Isles, in annoying the Celtic fringes on a scale previously only matched by Margaret Thatcher and Will Carling, have a rival for geographical imprecision in a leaflet circulating at Leeds University. Advertising CRAC's "Insight into Management in Europe 1995" seminar, it illustrates the theme with a line drawing of Europe which largely omits Scandinavia and appears to feature one Czechoslovakia and two Germanies. Not a bad effort in an institution featuring a geographer.
