Edinburgh doctor Colin Douglas, writing in the latest Student British Medical Journal, provides a helpful if worrying insight into interviews for new medical graduates. "Do not be alarmed if we ask difficult questions. It means only that we are bored or - much less likely - that we consider you to be in the tiny minority clever enough to be interesting. And do not be complacent if we ask simple questions. That would be a very grave error. Simple questions are the preserve of those candidates suspected of unfitness to practise.
