Having sifted through almost 200 entries from 95 different institutions, we can now unveil the shortlist for the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards 2011.
The annual awards come at a time of unprecedented change as the sector prepares for the shift in funding with the introduction of higher tuition fees in England in 2012.
The shortlisted entrants are competing in 16 categories ranging from top library team and best in marketing and communications to the outstanding student services team and those who have delivered the best departmental administration. Other categories cover procurement, research management, university finance and human resources.
The six institutions contesting the top honour - the title of outstanding leadership and management team - are: University of Bath; Birkbeck, University of London; University of Cumbria; University of Exeter; Harper Adams University College; and University of Leicester.

"This year is no exception. Our sector, like every other, has already gone through some tough times and is facing more turbulence as the new funding regime beds in. The winners of this year's awards will be announced at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London, on 16 June.
