(Photograph) - Mahathir Mohamad, prime minister of Malaysia, one of the fast-growing so-called "tiger" economies of South-east Asia, this week launched the Malaysian Commonwealth Studies Centre at Cambridge. The centre, supported by Pounds 2 million from Malaysian businessmen, comes just six months after Cambridge paid Pounds 3 million for the Royal Commonwealth Society Library. Tony Hopkins, Smuts professor of Commonwealth history, said: "This will make Cambridge the world's leading centre for Commonwealth studies for the forseeable future."
