Global warming could cause major famine in Asia within decades, according to Peter Clift of the School of Geosciences at the University of Aberdeen. Professor Clift predicts in his newly published book, The Asian Monsoon: Causes, History and Effects, that a major period of dry weather could affect central Asia in the next 50 to 200 years, with summer monsoons rapidly becoming weaker.
