Warwick University has bucked the trend for recruitment in Southeast Asia despite the financial crisis in the region.

It has increased its number of Southeast Asian students by more than 9 per cent, compared with a drop of 13 per cent for British higher education overall. The university's biggest success is in Hong Kong, where it boosted recruitment by 46 per cent, and Thailand, where it has recruited 34 per cent more students. The only drop was in Malaysia, where numbers have fallen by 23 per cent - still better than the national average of a 44 per cent fall.
