Created in 2020, ?cole Supérieure en Sciences et Technologies de l’Informatique et du Numérique (ESTIN) became Algeria’s third advanced institution in science and technology, following on from ENSI Algiers, which was established in 1969 and ESI Sidi-Ben-Abbes, which opened in 2014.
ESTIN was set up to answer "an imbalance in the training offer compared to national needs in the specialities of information technology, digital technology and the internet".
It aims to provide "high-level training for students in skills capable of extracting, analysing and exploiting data for multiple goals".
ESTIN sits on a 20-acre site described as an "architectural jewel". It has capacity for up to 5,000 students, and its facilities include a 1,000-seat auditorium.
Students follow the classic Algerian structure inherited from the French. Two years of preparatory courses are followed by a third year common core, and two years focusing on a speciality: either artificial intelligence and data science or cyber security.
Admission is highly competitive. In 2022, a minimum weighted average score of 15 in the Baccalaureate was required, and those finally admitted had an average score of around 17.5.
