ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon is?a public university founded in 1972. Its areas of specialisation are?business, sociology and public policy, social sciences, technology and architecture.

ISCTE is a research university with nine research centres. The research center AUDAX collaborates with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), as well as with various local authorities, business associations.?It offers dual degrees and works on the same projects with institutions such as?Universidade Estadual de Campinas in Brazil, the?Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the US, the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, the?National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Southern Medical University in China.

The university¡¯s famous alumni and faculty include sociologist and World Economic Forum¡¯s Young Global Leader in 2008 Gustavo Cardoso, Portugal¡¯s former Minister for Education Maria de Lurdes Rodrigues, anthropologists Miguel Vale de Almeida and Joao de Pina-Cabral and film director Joao Mario Grilo.
