Established in 1963, Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) is based in the Taishan District, in New Taipei, Taiwan.
Originally formed as Ming Chi Institute of Technology, it received university status in 2004 after developing its many departments and research centres.
Known for its training programs, MCUT is regarded as one of the top vocational universities in Taiwan.
MCUT offers both bachelor and master’s degrees within three separate schools, which are: engineering, environment and resources, and management and design. Within these departments, students can specialise in a variety of degrees including industrial design, visual communication, biochemical engineering and visual communication design.
In addition, there’s an Education Centre and as well as three research centres, specialising in thin film technologies and applications, battery research centre of green energy and biochemical technology.
To gain practical experience outside of the classroom, students are expected to take part in a one-year co-operative training program, in which they participate in a full-time internship program with Formosa Plastics Group or other enterprises in the industry to learn technical skills and gain work experience relevant to their fields of study.
There’s also an overseas co-operative practical training programme, which allows students to work for certain international companies abroad.
On campus, there are eight dormitories, which accommodate all undergraduate students.
MCUT has established relationships with universities around the world, carrying out various exchange activities such as academic exchanges, scientific research cooperation and the opportunity for students to study abroad. The university welcomes students to its campus for either one semester or an academic year.
However it is essential that international students are able to speak, read and write Chinese.
