So "Oxford fawned so shamelessly over the Stuarts ..." eh? (Leader, 15 May). Presumably this fawning didn't include the fellows of Magdalen College, who defied James II in 1687-88 in refusing to elect his nominee as president and risked penury, and worse, for doing so?
