A campus carry-on

Thanks for reminding us all of that lost classic of saucy British cinema Carry on up the Quad ("Striptease results in official campus cover-up", 18 September), in which Mac Daly, cultural studies professor, played by Kenneth Williams, struggles to coax students who are "forever taking their clothes off" back into their undergarments. David Riley, pro vice-chancellor of the University of Nottingham (Frankie Howerd on superb form), expresses his concerns and promises to keep a close - albeit rolling - eye on cheery stripper Barbara Windsor, who is told to keep most of her clothes on to avoid setting a dangerous precedent. Nevertheless, a leering Sid James, unhinged by a glimpse of Babs' ankle, wanders off from the Round Table and drunkenly accosts Hattie Jacques in a corridor of the empty student halls. Marvellous.
