A little less Frank 3

Recent letters on the "ineffectiveness" of teaching courses for new staff and the constant drone of Frank Furedi make me question the effectiveness of some UK academics as researchers.

Selective views and personal opinions are presented as self-evident truths without any consideration of their validity or reliability, with no reference to the international research evidence on this issue or the wider political context of the impact of the research assessment exercise on teaching.

Perhaps these academics - and in particular those writing for The Times Higher - need training in research methods?
