On behalf of the board of management at the Kingston City Group (KCG) consortium, I write to correct some misunderstandings that appear to have arisen with respect to our part in the concerns at London Metropolitan University ("Auditors and two top staff under scrutiny at London Met", 19 March; "Senior staff under investigation", 25 March).
KCG is a shared-service consortium that provides internal-audit services for 11 higher education institutions. The work undertaken by KCG at London Met was reviewed within the scope of the Sir David Melville and Deloitte investigations, and not, as your articles implied, ignored. No recommendations or adverse comment about the work were made. It is clear that no concerns have been raised about the activities of KCG in London Met.
I speak for all members of KCG in saying that our aim is to help London Met to get back on track as soon as possible.
Carole Mainstone, Chair, Kingston City Group.
