I was very saddened but not surprised to read "Grievances are 'mishandled'" (August 4).

This adds weight to the argument that universities must make students' examination papers available once they are marked as it will simplify the appeals process.

The main arguments are that it provides feedback, that it is easier to resolve mistakes, that if the student has failed it is easier to accept and that it protects against allegations of bias.J I applaud the policy at King's College London where students can get their papers back for a fee.
