Charity fills a gap 1

I want to clear up certain inaccuracies about Uniaid. It is not "a charitable offshoot of Unite" (Letters, October 15) any more than it is a subsidiary of its many other supporters moved by the plight of students.

Uniaid seeks to complement and enhance the professional support available, and our first reference is always to professionals and their organisations.

The gap in support that is our focus is for prospective and not existing students. The pilot accommodation bursary scheme is small because it must first be done properly.
