The article "Roehampton first to teach citizenship to freshers" (May 12) describes Roehampton's citizenship course as the "first of its kind in the UK". This is not quite right. Glasgow University's Crichton Campus in Dumfries attempts something similar and has since 1999. Nearly all undergraduates take as part of their curriculum four core courses that aim, among other things, to produce informed citizens capable of critical reflection.
