Eric Thomas' claim that only Oxbridge has a global impact among UK universities ("Think you belong on the world stage? Think again", THES , November 28) is unfair to Imperial College London and the London School of Economics, even by his own criteria. The LSE has one-quarter of staff and nearly two-thirds of students coming from overseas, it has huge numbers of visiting foreign academics and has produced 30 non-British prime ministers and presidents in 100 years. Imperial has similar credentials.
