Robert Zimmer, president of the University of Chicago, defends a "wide-ranging" higher educational policy ("Cultivate minds that can integrate, avoid too much specialisation?", timeshighereducation.co.uk, 1 October). Blimey, what a dinosaur. Doesn't he realise that liberal education is dead and that the new god of the academy is Gradgrind?
