I'm delighted that the widening participation review concluded that universities should scrap entry requirements. I argued a couple of years ago that selection was discriminatory, that there should be a basic threshold and that students should then be able to choose any course at any university. Places on oversubscribed courses would be determined by lots.&nbsp;This would reveal whether elite universities could actually teach.
