Your feature on student mental-health issues ("Academe gets in the right frame of mind", THES , August 30) refers to a Higher Education Funding Council for England-funded project at Lancaster University that I managed until its completion this July.
A major outcome of the project was the launch of a student mental-health planning, guidance and training manual in the form of a website aimed at a cross-section of staff in higher education institutions to assist in supporting students with mental-health difficulties. The national email network set up under the project remains an active forum for the sharing of good practice around student mental-health issues. Details regarding membership can be accessed via the website.
