The phrase "snooping" is completely ludicrous ("Students' union accused of snooping on lecturers", 30 April) when students are being asked to respond to academic staff who fail to attend sessions they should be leading. We are not being, and have not been, asked to go out of our way to find reasons to incriminate lecturers, but have been a channel to comment on lecturers who fail to show up. Three people in my close circle of friends commute from Liverpool, the cost incurred in travelling to university in terms of money and time is considerable, and it is unacceptable to cancel lectures without due notice.
