The shift in awareness of the importance of information and communications technology in the post-16 education sector is welcome (Editorial, e-supplement, THES , November 21). The main challenges, however, are human, cultural and organisational. The partnerships developing in colleges and universities between teaching, library, IT, administrative, human resources and other departments in the use of ICT are a clear sign that the sector is beginning to take advantage of the investment.
