Forewarned, forearmed

The University of East Anglia¡¯s Chris Fox is making the mistake of assuming that the reaction to a long-term diagnosis of illness (in this case, dementia) will be anxiety (¡°Early warning warning¡±, Campus round-up, 25 April). That may be his, but it wasn¡¯t mine or that of friends of mine. Faced with the knowledge of pending disability of various kinds, we have planned our careers, put in place support networks and thought carefully about our priorities, avoiding the crisis-management response to illness that Fox would create by his concern. This is because we are adults.
