I would like to clarify a number of inaccuracies in your article "PR lecturer resigns in protest over lack of staff" (5 November). In anticipation of the departure of Paul Simpson, an acting course co-ordinator for our BA in public relations has already been appointed and the London College of Communication is seeking to make a permanent full-time appointment. All enrolled students have been allocated supervisors and a personal tutor. Staff teaching the BA and MA PR and BA creative advertising courses include specialist PR academics and practitioners.
Earlier this year, the LCC undertook a reappraisal of its strengths and identity. In September, a new structure was implemented, focusing on two faculties and subject areas where the college is a sector leader. The three courses listed above are integral to our mission and will be nurtured and fully supported.
The college has noted students' concerns about the specialist content of the BA PR curriculum and will address them through its normal revalidation process, at which stage accreditation can be explored. These matters are historic and unrelated to LCC's restructuring.
