As lead author of numerous academic critiques of therapeutic education and the only woman among its three leading critics, the invisibility of my female perspective on a paper attacking me and colleagues for supporting the supposed binary in higher education between male/rational and female/emotional was most ironic ("No more touchy-feely? How macho ...", 6 August). But as a woman, I'm feeling too emotional at being excluded from the "politics of masculinity" that I'm alleged to be colluding in to be able to make a rational response.
