My daughter is pursuing a vocational degree at Leeds Metropolitan University. Now in her second year, she is fulfilling the mandatory requirement to work full-time for a whole year in industry.
While accepting that I must pay fees for each of her three years when resident at the university, I resent paying a fee of ?500.20 for this year. She is working and living more than 200 miles from Leeds and will never go near the university.
This is not a discretionary charge but one that has been instigated by government.
I would be interested in any of your readers offering the rationale behind this pernicious levy, because no mention was made of this before enrolment. An educational stealth tax by any other name?
