To clarify "Job losses feared as Glasgow forecasts ?3m deficit" ( THES , June 8): the latest forecast for the current financial year shows a ?2.3 million deficit. This figure was submitted to the Scottish funding council in April and reported to the university council. It arises from the normal budgetary process. There has been no internal audit. The 2001-02 budget predicts, on a recurring basis, a small surplus.
