I am surprised that the University of Dundee is moving to a two-semester model with assessment at the end of each period (For the record, THES , March 22).

Staff at the University of Huddersfield are working on the new assessment strategy. It sees a return to a yearly model. This has been welcomed by external examiners. It means that continuous assessment can be staggered across the year, which is less stressful for students and lecturers.
