British Library requests are not dealt with on a first-come, first-served basis as Natalie Ceeney, director of operations and services, writes (Letters, THES, July 25). I have a letter from the BL head of user satisfaction stating that "reading room users cannot take precedence over registered document supply customers, who are paying for the loan".
